Introductions- Who is Ms. Ryan? Why is she here? What is she going to teach me?

Good Afternoon!

My name is Ms. Ryan and I am so excited to be apart of the Birmingham Falls family this year! From day one I am going to start to get to know my students very well and my goal is to master everyone's name by day 3. It is an ambitious goal, however I have done it before and I will do it again! I feel it is only right for me to give you some various information about myself. First, these are my dogs (technically my parent's dogs). The one is the red bandana is Denali and the one in the blue bandana is Glacier. I love them tremendously and they are irresistible! Second, I was born and raised in New Jersey. I went to high school in Roswell, Ga. I attended the College of Charleston and earned an Elementary Education degree. I completed my student teaching in Mount Pleasant, SC, in a 5th grade classroom where I taught Language Arts and Social Studies. I decided to go straight through to graduate school and earned my master's degree in Early Childhood Education. I graduated December 2013 and spent the Spring Semester substituting in several elementary schools located North Fulton County. I found a job at Haynes Bridge Middle School where I taught 6th and 7th grade Reading for the 2014-2015 school year. I am very excited about working at BFES this year! 3) My family consists of five members, seven if you include the dogs. I have an older brother named Dan. I also have a twin named Kevin. 4) I knew after my student teaching experience that I wanted to teach 5th grade as well as be a Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. My dream has come true!

My expectations this year are....
1) To make it the best elementary school year yet and prepare every student for middle school!
2) To ensure every student feels smart throughout the school year.
3) To strengthen all aspects of your learning, especially Language Arts and Social Studies!
4) To read various texts and make connections!
5) To learn about crucial parts of history that influences our lives today.
